About Mercury Cars

Marketed and sold by the famous automobile manufacturer Ford Motor Company. Mercury is an American market division of the company. Created in the year 1938, Mercury was launched to fill the price gap between Lincoln and Ford vehicles. In 2010, Ford Motor Company announced to discontinue the Mercury division as it wanted to refocus its engineering and marketing efforts on both Ford and Lincoln brands. Production was stopped in fourth quarter of 2010. The primary market of the cars was United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Middle East, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Few models of the Mercury brand shared common engineering with Lincoln, many of them very often based on Ford models which were rebadged. Some of the popular models were Grand Marquis, Mercury Mountaineer, Sable and Mariner.
