About Smart Cars

Known for selling microcar and subcompact vehicles, “smart” (official trademark with all lowercase letters), smart automobile is a division of Daimler AG. The company has its headquarter at Boblingen, Germany, the company has its assembly plants located in Novo Mesto, Slovenia and in Hambach, France. The cars are marketed in several countries like Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia, North and South America.

The design concept for the automobiles began in the early 1970s and late 1980s at Mercedes. The first model was launched by Daimler Benz in October 1998 after backing by Volkswagen. The company now operates under the Mercedes-Benz cars division of the Daimler AG and offers only 2 models, namely the Fortwo Coupe and Cabrio. Smart car models are modified by Brabus of Germany (Brabus production models).
