I have a 2013 CX5 and I agree with most of what writer speaks on. Let me say it was the stylish look and feel of the CX5 that motivated my wife and I to invest in the Mazda. The SkyActiv technology truly is an economic gas saver as the car can go up to a full week before a refuel. The 20 " inch wheels give it a smooth and bump less ride. With that said it was also a 1st year model and there are some issues, not large negatives but negatives to say the least. The 6 speed automatic transmission is a great thing but from a dead stop it takes till 3rd gear to get moving. This is not a vehicle you want to pull out of a lot with a car or especially a truck bearing down on you. It has what I call the "Flintstone" effect. I will say that I've heard Mazda has corrected that by increasing the engine and horsepower a bit and if true would make this vehicle a solid purchase !!
