Selling of Pickup Truck Is Increasing

The first pickup truck debuted in 1925 and was based on ford model. Several years fast forward to 2013 and one can witness that the market of pickup trucks now reflects increasing sales. The trend of the pickup truck has increased in the last couple of years, with stronger sales every passing year. The now available pickup trucks are more fuel efficient, affordable and customizable. This light motor vehicle is one of the most popular vehicles in the rural areas and its market has become quite powerful in the last few years. The US trucks economy has now shown a strong demand for the pickup trucks.

Ford has dominated the market of pickup trucks for quite a long time now. Coming a long way from the first pickup truck to the launch of F-series in 1945, it has always maintained its reign.  The ford F-150 has been the best selling pickup in the US for 43 years. Compared to the sales of 645,316 in 2012, the F-series had an 18 percentage increase in 2013 with the sales of 763,402 units. In the year 2014 Ford is looking forward to two of its biggest bets the F-150 Tremor and the Shelby F-150 Raptor.

While the ford f-series has always been in the limelight there are other contenders who have been in the spotlight from time to time. In the pickup truck market the Chevrolet Silverado has become the next big thing. It is also one of the top five sellers of 2013 with the sales of 480,414 units. In 2014 the Chevrolet is all set with their new Silverado 1500- a pick truck with the most efficient gas V8 pickup engine ever. Redesigned in all new avatar it is surely the truck to look out for in 2014.

The Ram pickup formerly the Dodge Ram surprised everyone with its 21.1 percentage increase in sales from 2012 and found its way into the top five in 2013. With hard-charging power and easygoing economy the Ram 1500 pickup scored quite well last year. Along with it, Honda also gained more than 20 percent increase in its 2013 sales. The Japanese automaker Honda has been in the pickup market with the Honda Ridgeline-a mid to full-size utility truck launched in 2005.  Although the Ridgeling is set to exit production in 2014, it is one of the successful pickup.

The other well-known names in the market are the GMC Sierra, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tundra. Like other manufactures the Toyota Tundra, which has a maximum tow rating between 9k-10k lb. and is fitted with 5.7 liter V8, has found double digit gain in the year 2013
