White Volvo S60L

Ever since “Just a bunch of farm boys” from Zhejiang Geely Holding Co. got control of the “mysterious, beautiful woman” from Sweden, in 2010, China has become the largest market for Volvo Cars. And, now Geely’s Volvo, is all set to launch the very first Volvo car, the S60L, which is built in China.

The Volvo S60 is quite popular amongst Chinese business executives and the company hopes that the Chinese made S60L will be well received in the US as well. Keeping in view the preference of Chinese market, the new S60L has slightly longer wheel base as compared to the Swedish made S60.

The company took the decision to shift production in China instead of Sweden to lower production costs. It plans to produce 120,000 cars annually and wishes to checkout the reaction of US consumers.

The mid-sized luxury sedan is slated to be released in the US market in 2015. The Chinese automaker has high stakes in Volvo S60L. How it is received by the US market can make or break the company’s fortunes. The carmaker wants to make a dent in the US market where a decade ago Volvo cars were a symbol of pride however the sales have been gradually declining in the US. The favorable response to S60L really matters for the company as it is also gearing to release the very first Chinese designed and build sports utility vehicle, the XC90.
