Hyundai, a South Korean company, was originally founded as a construction company and is currently fifth largest car manufacturer as of 2009. The company has its headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, and employs 75,000 persons in different countries the world over The Hyundai conglomerate also owns and operates the largest shipbuilder in the world. Hyundai’s largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility is located in Ulsan producing 1.6 million units annually, sold in 193 countries through 6,000 dealerships and showrooms.

Hyundai’s popular car models include the “Sonata”, a midsized sedan, the “Elantra” the compact model, and the “Genesis”, Hyundai’s luxury car. Hyundai is in the process of manufacturing electric and additional hybrid models in the very near future. Hyundai unique hybrid technology includes the use of lithium polymer batteries in place of lithium-ion ones which is not currently being used by any other automobile manufacturer.
